Roscaragh is one and a half miles outside the village of Glenbeigh on the
south side of Dingle Bay, one of south west Ireland's spectacular
west-facing bays on the Atlantic coast. It stands on the headland of the
Caragh River estuary and looks out onto Dingle Bay and Rossbeigh Strand, a
three-mile long sand spit at the end of which, according to legend, is the
land of eternal youth - Tir na Nog. If eternal youth is not for you, you can
swim from the Blue Flag beach or walk in the sand dunes instead.

Glenbeigh is a village situated on the Ring of Kerry, the picturesque
road that hugs the rocky coastline of the Iveragh peninsula and
circumnavigates the MacGillicuddy Reeks, Ireland's highest mountain range.
It is around eighteen miles from Killarney and eighty miles from Cork and is
surrounded by mountains, lakes, rivers and beaches and is an ideal centre
for a wide range of activities including fishing, walking, riding, golf,
cycling, canoeing and shooting. The area is also popular with wind surfers, yachtsmen and hang glider pilots.

Glenbeigh has a supermarket and petrol station, some smaller grocery
stores, a post office, a pub and two long-established hotels with bars and
restaurants open to the public. A few miles away is the town of Killorglin with more shops, pubs and restaurants, and beyond that is Killarney, the
main centre
for touring Kerry. Glenbeigh has been a popular holiday destination since
the nineteenth century, yet has remained recognisably the same small village
between the mountains and the sea of one hundred years ago.
